Final

This photo was composed using a total of 4 strobes. Two in the place of the candle lanterns which were later removed digital in post. There was one light gelled blue and placed outside the window on left shining in and giving the elusion of moonlight. The last light was placed just off camera right and was used as a fill light for the entire photo.

Compositionally the subject was on the right third of the image and balanced with his coat, gun, powder horn, and window. Light was used as the primary tool to direct attention to the subject. The aperture was stopped down to achieve tack sharp focus throughout the image. A wider lens was used due to the confined location and the inability to get any further back from our subject.

This photo was a digital composite so as to capture the lantern light and how they illuminated the scene. An identically composed shot with strobes in the place of the candle lanterns was then captured and the two images were combined to achieve the final image.
